Kingsland Walk Senior Living Shares a Note of Gratitude

Category: Senior Living

Author: Donald Harris, Assistant Executive Director

At Kingsland Walk Senior Living we have been faced with some challenges in the past year with staffing shortages, COVID still lingering, and the flash flooding that took place in the St. Louis area. Even with these challenges, the team pulled together to continue to make positive impacts. Our community continues to grow as we welcome new residents and families with open arms. Our staff further develops with updated policy, procedures, and training. Overall, we couldn’t do it without the care and support from all our staff, residents, and families.

The families have come together and have been understanding with COVID policy changes, during our flooding, and building renovations. We built strong communication where our transparency has built trust. Our residents and families participate in many different events and bring new ideas to the table for us to have continued success.

With turnover and use of agency staff, everyone has had to come together during staffing shortages. Our staff has helped by having flexible hours and picking up additional shifts. They have done a great job participating in events and showcasing our community. Each department head has touch points with their staff, so we can make sure we are all on the same page as we strive to boost the overall morale.

Our home health companies stepped up and helped host events for us, such as calling bingo and providing an educational talk series. Our hospice companies work closely with our wellness team and the families to provide overall comfort for our residents who need additional services. Our pharmacy communicates closely with us to make sure our residents have everything they need.

We have many fun events scheduled for residents, families, and staff and encourage you to follow us on our Facebook page. We are looking to stabilize staffing, continue to grow our community, and welcome new families and residents to join in on the fun!
