Expertise and caring like family.

Helping care for a family member who is suffering from Alzheimer’s or other memory problems is one of the most challenging things a person can do. Then, even when you decide to seek help, trusting someone to care for your loved one can be just as daunting a prospect. At Kingsland Walk, our staff is trained to provide quality personalized care so you can step back from being the caregiver and start to be family again.

By focusing on dignity, quality of life, and independence, we strive to ensure all residents feel respected and cared for as they age.

Memory Care Apartments

Memory care at Kingsland Walk strikes a balance between freedom, security, and privacy. Residents have their own apartments but are free to explore and utilize all other areas of the memory care neighborhood. Our apartments were designed with seniors in mind, ensuring simple and immediate access to all the necessities of life.

We believe quality care begins with strong relationships. We pair Life Enrichment Coordinators and residents as a team – so personalized bonds of trust and friendship can be developed over time.

Security isn’t restriction. Safety isn’t constant monitoring. This is a resident’s home, and they need to be comfortable and cared for without feeling like Big Brother is always watching them. We make every effort to integrate resident safety in discreet ways. The design of the memory care cottage focuses not just on comfort and ease of navigation, but on security.

Life Stations

Specialized activity stations, called Life Stations™, are strategically placed throughout our memory care cottage to promote engagement opportunities. The Life Stations resemble specific aspects of life in order to encourage engagement and interaction. Our Life Enrichment Coordinators also create life boxes that are specific to each resident!

Because of the unique symptoms and behaviors caused by memory loss, it can seem like the only solution is to limit and restrict the senior’s activity. It can be frustrating when you want to keep your loved one active and out in the world but it feels like you’re only exacerbating everything. Kingsland Walk has the amenities and the expertise to provide meaningful engagement and ease your concern.

One undeniably difficult symptom of memory loss is the toll it takes on diet. Utilizing and engaging all five senses, Kingsland Walk has developed methods for exciting the appetite and helping residents re-connect with their love of food.

Alzheimer’s and other dementias can make once automatic grooming habits seem impossible. At Kingsland Walk, we believe that residents should have the dignity we all take for granted – looking and feeling presentable. We make sure that residents receive grooming essentials such as combing and bathing, but we also provide scheduled trips to our salon so that they can also feel pampered.

Advanced Training

Providing care for residents with dementia is a highly specialized skill – one that we develop with best courses in empathy, communication, and personal care. All of our Life Enrichment Coordinators must go through extensive, continual training so they are knowledgeable about the care methods and understanding of Alzheimer’s.

It is vitally important when providing care for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia to be equipped with the most up-to-date knowledge and proven effective techniques, not to mention a drive to care for those in need. These individuals work tirelessly to ensure that residents with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other forms of memory loss live in the best possible home with care that goes above and beyond what family members expect.
